A picture of me

Hello! I am Aidan Katson, a third-year PhD student at University of California, Santa Cruz. I am primarily interested in theoretical syntax, semantics, and their interfaces, with particular regard to time, clause-embedding nouns, nominalizations, and honorification.

I speak English and Spanish, am a heritage speaker of Japanese (basic to intermediate proficiency), and have basic knowledge of French and Mandarin. I also have an interest in conducting fieldwork on Hoisan (Taishanese) in the near future.

My primary advisor is Maziar Toosarvandani. I am the current chair of the UCSC Linguistics Events Committee.

Recent: I gave a talk at NELS 56 @ NYU, titled, “Expanding the nominal in English POSS- and ACC-ing gerunds”! Find the handout here.
